An emergency is an accident or sudden illness. Your regular veterinarian should treat an illness that does not have a sudden onset. Routine vaccinations, worming, neutering, etc. will not be performed at the Animal Emergency & Referral Center of Central Iowa. In the event of a fracture (broken bone), your pet will be treated for pain and shock, if any. The fracture will be immobilized in a splint or bandage to prevent further injury until your regular veterinarian performs the repair. The The Animal Emergency & Referral Center of Central Iowa Staff will provide intensive care to animals that are critically ill or injured. Your pet will be treated as soon as possible, on a triage basis, which means cases will be prioritized according to severity of illness. Every effort will be made to assure your pets comfort and safety while awaiting treatment.
